Right around a minute in I didn't think this title was going to say great game. It was an ugly first goal with Hamonics stick swinging, Brodies puck watching and rover play making Tkachuk look late covering Brodies man. Thankfully the Monahan Johnny show got us back into it with a good up by Monahan and nice finish by Johnny. So after the 4:49 we had a mulligan. We used it to get a 4-1 win.
Mike Smith kept us in the game in the first period. This has been to constant of a theme but needed most times you play on the road against a premier team. The storm was well weathered after a scary start. The second and third period where very good periods by the Flames. We carried the play for the most part and won the special teams game with 2 power play goals while not allowing a short handed goal for the first time in awhile.
The Monahan line once again played very well with Monahan and Johnny getting 2 points each. Ferland was held off the sheet but was around the play and had some chances and made a really nice entry pass. The 3m line didn't have their best game but their lows aren't that bad. Backlund was able to get 2 pp points helping the second unit produce. Jankowski's line was buzzing but problem is they didn't hit the score sheet. Jagr was able to get his point on the pp. Janks and Bennett where able to combine for 7 shots on net and really should have been on the score sheet a couple times. F.Hamiltons turn centering the 4th line was not notably different than Lazar or Stajans last few games but he may need a game to warm up after sitting for so long. The defencemen besides Brodie own zone play was good. Gio and Hamilton lead the way with a combined 3 points. Mike Smith played a great 60 minutes and was the main contributor to the win.
